What is the city of Surat Thani like?

Surat Thani is a mid-to-large sized city in Southern Thailand with a population of approximately 132,000 - and about 150 of that figure being expats. It is a hub for travel with many busses shuttling tourists to the islands on the East and West coasts. However, it is not like Bangkok or Phuket. On an average day you are more likely to interact with locals than travelers.

It is also a foodie haven. Food is not only indulged in here, but celebrated. Surat Thani is dotted with an abundance of unique eateries catering to both locals and the international community.
